Description
A small yellowish-grey slimy Suillus characteristic of boggy mountain soils and mycorrhiza with dwarf mountain pine.
Identification features
The cap is 3–6 cm wide, grey-yellowish, greasy to slimy, with peelable skin. Pores start yellow, later yellow-brown and relatively large. The stem is slender, brownish and has a slimy ring when young.

How to separate similar species
Other yellow Suillus grow with different pines or larch. The highly specific bog habitat is particularly important for this species.

Grows on boggy mountain ground, peatlands and wet moss in mycorrhiza with dwarf mountain pine or other low pines, in summer and autumn; rare.
