Description
A large brown grisette with grey veil patches, a strongly striate cap margin, and no ring.
Identification features
The cap is brown to grey-brown with thick grey veil patches. White gills are free. The long ringless stem has grey scaling and ring-like veil remnants near the base.

Check the whole stem and base, absence of a ring, grey cap patches, and band-like veil remnants on the lower stem.
How to separate similar species
Other grisettes can be very similar. A cap-only photo is insufficient; the base, veil, and absence of a ring are essential.
Habitat
Occurs in deciduous and coniferous woodland, mainly in summer and autumn, usually in small groups.
