Description
A smaller bolete that turns intensely blue almost immediately when bruised or cut.

Pores are yellow, the stem yellow to reddish brown; very rapid blue staining is distinctive.

Compare especially with these similar species: Neoboletus luridiformis, Suillellus luridus, Hortiboletus rubellus.
