Description
A grey to silvery-grey sharply bossed Tricholoma with radial fibres and distinctly acrid flesh.
Identification features
The cap is grey, conical to bell-shaped, later expanded with a distinct boss and radial fibres. Gills are pale; the stem is whitish to grey and fibrous.

How to separate similar species
Edible grey knights can look similar, while T. sciodes and T. pardinum are poisonous. Confusing grey Tricholoma can therefore be dangerous.
Habitat
Grows mainly in coniferous woodland, especially with spruce, from late summer to autumn.
