Description
A fleshy funnel- to fan-shaped oysterling with a brownish cap and crowded white gills running deeply down a short stem.
Identification features
Cap about 3–10 cm wide, trumpet- to fan-shaped, dark to yellowish-brown and sticky when moist. Gills are white to ochre, crowded and strongly decurrent; stem is short and eccentric.

How to separate similar species
Oyster mushrooms and other Hohenbuehelia species can be similar. Reliable identification is required before eating.
Habitat
