Description
A club-shaped fungus with a characteristically flat-truncated, slightly depressed top, ochre-yellow to brownish; relatively uncommon in mixed and conifer woods.
Identification features
The fruitbody is 6–15 cm high, widens upward and ends in a flat to slightly depressed top. Surface smooth to longitudinally wrinkled, ochre-yellow to brownish.

How to separate similar species
Clavariadelphus pistillaris is usually larger with a more rounded top; not all smaller club fungi are suitable for eating.
Habitat
Grows in groups in mixed and coniferous woodland from early summer to autumn; relatively uncommon.
