Description

A brownish Tricholoma with a finely scaly cap, white gills, and growth mainly with pine.

Identification features

The cap is brown, initially almost smooth, later finely scaly and sometimes slightly sticky. Gills are white to cream. Flesh is white and generally does not redden.

How to separate similar species

Tricholoma pessundatum and other brown knights can be poisonous. T. vaccinum is more coarsely scaly and its flesh may redden.

Mycorrhizal mainly with pines, often on calcareous soils, from late summer to autumn.
